Oil Recycling

« Back to Services

Nearly every oil used today, from engine oil to brake fluid, can and should be recycled. Used oil can be cleaned and recycled into other products, reducing the environmental impact of oil usage and consumption.

Commonly recycled oils include:

Engine Oils Hydraulic Fluids Compressor Oils
Transmission Fluids Grease Transformer Oils/EDM Fluids
Brake Fluids Metalworking Fluids Heat Transfer Fluids
Gear Lubricants Machine Lubricants Food Grade Lubricants

Mixing

Liquid management is an important element of proper recycling. Used oil containing even trace amounts of antifreeze, solvents or fuels may not be accepted for recycling. Shop procedures must dictate careful collection and separation of fluids to prevent cross-contamination.

Why Recycle Used Oil?

State law requires used oil to be recycled and prohibits disposal. In most cases, used oil contains contaminates such as lead, which can harm drinking water and the environment if not properly managed.
It is also the economic choice as used oil curbs some demand for virgin or new oil products. Recycling also deters illegal dumping and contamination, which leads to expensive environmental clean-up costs.
